Everybody's Got Bears
When microbiology professor Dave Cummings, Ph.D., began feeling sick, he was convinced the problem was entirely physical. But when the diagnosis came back as generalized anxiety disorder, Cummings decided to use his journey to address a much deeper issue: mental health in the church.
Project objective
"Everybody's Got Bears" is part of The Who Are You Called to Be video series, a concept I developed with the universities marketing team to express PLNU's brand and mission of calling & vocation through short video narratives. These stories range in perspectives from current students, alums, and staff & faculty.
Beyond video production, my job was to continue to identify future stories to tell that fall in line with PLNU's mission & purpose through video narrative storytelling.

When music professor Dan Nelson was diagnosed with terminal ALS, he decided to spend his final months doing what he lived for: investing in students. Nearly a decade after Dan's passing, and with 85 hours of footage, filmmaker Jared Callahan and composer Scott Stevens (PLNU alumni) are sharing Dan's story with the help of the students and faculty he impacted.
